English II: Grade 10 Language Arts
Year-long English Language Arts course — California Common Core State Standards (Grades 9–10).
English II is a year-long Grade 10 English Language Arts course that builds critical reading, academic writing, speaking, and language mastery through world literature, informational texts, drama, the novel, and research.
The course is organized into four units across 36 weeks, each with key concepts, real textual examples, a step-by-step skill model, a comprehension check, and a writing or research assignment.
Course Objectives
- Read and analyze complex literary and informational texts from diverse cultures, citing strong textual evidence.
- Write analytical, argumentative, narrative, and research texts with clear organization and correct conventions.
- Speak and listen effectively in seminars, presentations, and collaborative discussions.
